Precious Memories

How we determine price:

Remember Hopalong Cassidy?

Each person's life story is unique. Therefore, each book is a custom creation requiring individual attention, individual choices and individual pricing.

We price our work by the length of the interviews, by the time needed for the editing process, by the quantity and type of additional materials to be included in the book, and by printing and binding decisions.

Fees may be estimated ahead of time or billed as the charges are incurred, depending on the particular arrangement.  Document preparations charges are separate from printing and binding costs.

We offer free consultation about our services and will consider projects of any size and scope, small or large.

More than 80 years of joy

The price for smaller books and projects can range from $100 to $5,000.

Pamphlets and small books in this category include those created from recorded interviews of no more than four hours' length, or formatted, printed, and bound from a nearly-finished manuscript supplied on a computer disk.

Ethical wills and collections of poetry or stories previously written are usually in this price range..

For an example of a book in this price range, see My Life on Two Continents on the Completed Books page)

Liss, a member of the family

A more thorough recounting of personal history might be based on five to twelve hours of recorded interview time. The resulting book could comprise between 80 and 250 pages, and contain 50 to 100 photos.

Prices for a book of this type range from $5,000 to $20,000.

Printing and binding costs for single copies can range from $20 - $200 each, again depending on the number of copies and type of binding.

Most of the books on the Completed Books page are in this general range.

We encourage families to pool their resources and give their parents the opportunity of doing a life story book for a 50th wedding anniversary or some other special occasion.

If you request it, we can tailor the interviewing and editing/layout time to fit your available resources.

We will be happy to give a careful estimate of costs and time needed after thorough consultation with you.
Everyone has a story to tell and memories to savor!
